When you contribute to the Conservancy's voluntary carbon offset program you are helping fund Nature Conservancy projects that are specifically designed to prevent the emissions of carbon dioxide or capture and store carbon and thus, help reduce the build up of greenhouse gases that are causing climate change.
Yesterday, electricity was cut off in my town for 14 & a half hours. Climate change has meant more hot summer seasons & this resulted in more use of air conditioners which led to more burdens on the source of electricity (which is generated by burning fossil fuels). The hardship of yesterday has intensified the feeling for more actions to contribute to carbon-offsetting programs on all levels otherwise the coming summers will be very difficult to endure by humans, animals, and plants. Our cats suffered a lot yesterday and in other days of this continuous heat wave.
