BPA is a colour developer commonly used in thermal paper recieps. Although concentrations of BPA in thermal paper vary, low concentrations may result from contamination. What would be the concentration threshold indicating intentional use of BPA? In plain words, what would be the minimum BPA amount added to thermal paper, so it could act as a developer.

I am not familiar weith the minimum concentration of BPA needed for thermal paper development. But I know that BPA will be early banned in EU. So according to my opinion it is necessary to start study of new chemicals which can substitute this endocrine disruptor.

You are right to point out that BPA is about to (3 years from now) be phased out from thermal paper in EU. However, there are concerns BPA will be substituted by chemicals similar in their toxicologic/endocrine effects (e.g., bisphenol S (BPS)). Hence, it would be useful to know whether BPA substitutes will be used in different concentrations than BPA.
