Adsorption is deemed to be one of the best processes to remove contaminants but partitioning always plays an important role in process of removal. What is best and easy approach to differentiate between partitioning and adsorption?
Partitioning normally happened between similar phases (L-L), while adsorption happened between L and S phases. Adsorption can be considered partitioning of the x material needed to be removed between the phase A and the solid (adsorbent), if the efficiency of the adsorption is 70% this can be considered partitioning of the material 70 on the solid and 30 in the L phase.
