When is a research is labelled as best research
1) when having a good grant?
2) Properly funded?
3) More researchers involved?
4) Big names involved in research ?
5) Done at a renowned lab/university.
6) Published in one of the best journals of that particular subject?
7)Having more Citations.
8) Any other reason?? what do you say??

World has become a global village and the scientific community is working by keeping pace with each other to build a common edice of knowledge and awareness. The purpose is to nd solutions to the challenging problems the world is facing these days in every sector whether its health, allied health, pharmaceutical industry, physical sciences or engineering etc. Developing countries including Pakistan are also trying hard to be a part of international research community. Government of Pakistan including Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, are putting a lot of efforts to promote science and research in Pakistani Institutions. A new researcher or student has several questions in mind about starting of a project. Depending upon the type of study; whether basic or applied, a researcher should rst develop a research question or hypothesis in his mind. Research question should be addressing the most recent challenge faced by the society. It should be having a wide scope, beneting a diversity of stratas and their problems. Data mining and survey of literature should be done afterwards to see the types of researches done previously on the same area. It will help the researcher in identication of the magnitude of the problem, current situation of the problem area, existing knowledge and helps determining the direction of further action. A well maintained record should be kept during all the research process and all sources of information should be noted.
As it is useless to reinvent the wheel, so a researcher takes up the task from the same point (done by some other researchers) and contributes in his own way. Utility, scope, implementation and applications of the project should be assessed in order to provide more benet to the society. Smart selection of methodology approaches should be adopted according to the international standards to prove the same phenomenon or question. The criteria of the most appropriate method is that it should be cost effective, provides evident outcomes and should be reproducible in any types of circumstances or environments across the globe. Last step after completion of the research is to present the data in the form of an article. This is most important part and good presentation is necessary. The other serious issues to be considered are plagiarism, copyright, conict of interest informaion and acknowledgement of all funding sources. References should be properly cited. These are the basic guidelines for motivated, keen and passionate students to conduct a valid and successful research. Wishing all the best to the upcoming young researchers!

Thank you Syed Amir Gilani and Vikram Zaveri for sharing your enlightening and helpful views. However, I am not sure how do we define an ideal research. General perception of "ideal" may be different from an author's or a reader's point of view. Similarly, a undergraduate/graduate student may have different perception of an ideal paper than do a distinguished professor/supervisor. While publishing an article, most authors would have come across the situation when 2 sets of peer reviewers require different types of experiments for a "well designed" study. For example, in one of my paper, one reviewer's comments were focused on drug loading and delivery, whereas another reviewer asked plethora of question related to biology and asked me to perform an extra experiment. If you want to publish a research article on toxicity of synthetic polymers, a reader from chemistry will expect different kind of experiments than a reader a reader from biology.
In my humble opinion, future of science is multidisciplinary i.e. lies at the interphase of more than one disciplines of science. Therefore, there are certain things that are going to be critical in research such as proper (and continued) funding and involvement of multiple centers. Therefore, an "ideal research" may be different for different researchers and need to be specified.
I would appreciate your opinion about it form you and others.

There are lots of issues which can possibly have negative influence to a research. Funding is often connected with financial interests of the investors which have a huge impact on the possible results. One can say that it is possible to earn much money or to make good research but never both - because my income is still 0€ my research must be extremely good ;)
More researchers involved: Yes that is good if the organization is effective.
Big names... well, if some of a team has too much reputation it could lead to a huge influence of the most renowned researchers - maybe unjustified.
Renowned lab/university: might have a positive influence due to better laboratory equipment. But maybe there are also negative effects - it depends on financial interests again.
Published in one of the best journals of that particular subject
Not necessarily: On the one hand, also the journal just want to make money, not science. See for example:

On the other hand it is also possible to find poor research in highly renowned journals: I even found a nature article which was of extremely poor quality. Therefore, to ensure good quality one should make an own 'peer review process' of the articles one wants to use as references.
Due to recent aggressive politics of some journals against RG (see again the links above) I would suggest to publish only here on RG and not in journals until they change their attitude towards research and researchers!
Citations: Well, one starts with zero ;) It depends on the interest/understanding by others in the future.
Conclusion
An ideal research should be 'middle of the road' regarding the categories you mentioned. Just form a team of sufficient size and structure and start working!

I think to know what is a good research. It should be derived from the honest work of one or more unbiased investigators who trie reach correct and undeniable conclusions using simple and shared methods.
Everything else does not care or should proceed accordingly.
