I am going to simulate the interaction between polymer (PA) and thin fiber (assumed as thin plastic plate).
Do anyone have experience about such coupling problem? I used Ansys workbench with Fluent and transient structural 2-way FSI coupling. I did try many cases with small time step size but the solution was still not converged.
Do anyone know suitable coupling time step size for such problem?

I do not know what coupling algorithm is used internally. Do you have a time step limit in the fluid solver? What about the solid solver? If so, I would take the minimum of both.

The coupling algorithm is two-way fluid-structure interaction (FSI) as system coupling scheme in Ansys Workbench. The main interaction between fluid and structure is from force to displacement and from displacement to fluid flow to generate new force, then so on.
The time step I used for fluid is 1E-5s (fixed). Coupling time step is 1E-6s (fixed). Thus, each fluid time step, 10 coupling steps were used.
I explored the log file to view the displacement in final solution before it was crashed, then the displacements showed quite big value. I think it is the reason why my system was failed to solve. Now I am trying to analyze the force to displacement in steady solution first.
The new appeared problem is calculation time. Since the number of mesh raised much. We are thinking about the possibility for current simulation.
