What is a reliable document to refer to know the number of MSMEs in India?

We are working on a paper on Credit Requirements of MSMEs in India, and how that segment can be better served. We are unable to find any reliable source to know exactly how many MSMEs exist, their geographic and sectoral distribution. Will be extremely grateful for help with this aspect. It is in the indian context.
