Research GATE works to the benefit of every scientist!
"Being connected with co-researchers is a great advantage for every scientist. You can present your profile and your work, manage and extend your professional contacts, join or found groups, ask or answer questions, share or search papers and much more. This collaboration makes everybody’s work much more effective."
Sharing of ideas, fine communications through many threads, lot of friends and colleagues I have met at ResearchGate, many available resources, opportunities...!
In my persuasion RG makes it possible to stay with your discipline and research interests while connecting you with like-minded researchers. Members can be searched by skill which makes it easy to find experts in specialist areas. You can interchange thoughts and cooperate with others, no matter where in the universe they are.

RG had made the research world getting smaller, SMEs are easily contactable & contents are available 24 x 7. RG also helped me understand better the authors that I had cited in my articles i.e. you can approach them directly on any question / comment as well as understand better the development of their thought / trend in doing certain research. Moreover, RG also given me opportunities to contribute my knowledge / experience & helping others in solving their research problems.
I've always interested in knowing how others, from different disciplines and different cultures, think about the same topic, and found that there is something hidden gathers us, it's humanity and the need of living with a group through the RG.
@ Dear Professors.... Kamal, Jeanan, Ljubomir and Barbara
You all have highlighted a real honest point..... At RG we can know/share our understandings with different people across the world, it is my honor to be associated with you all through RG.......Best Regards.
Besides all these true reason said above I have found out these hard working people are normal people after all. And we have Also discussed other topics beyond our main interests as ethics, leisure and the answers are very smart too. There are some I keep looking for their answers just to see how they approach some simple questions and turned them memorable pieces. It needs some improvements, but I would vote down a day without RG.
RG is a social net for scientists. As such one should be "socialised" through RG. This may be not so pleasurable for researchers who are used to work alone, without so much "socialising" and its implications.
Of course, making friends from all over the world, exchanging ideas, establishing research cooperations, etc. is really valuable. Also the easiness of exchanging papers is a valuable thing.
Sharing ideas, communications and discussions on different aspects from research, sciences, and many questions of general interest. Understanding others thinking and problems from different areas, fields and countries. Making networking and friends who listen to us and listen to them. And opportunities to have direct interaction and/or discussions with authors cited in ones works.
I come in rather late, but I agree with most of your views, and I can give you evidence that my research is facilitated through knowing some of you. I will just attach the link to my recent article that is a product of such facilitation. I also have 2 more research efforts that are ongoing collaborations. Besides that, I have a little group of close friends from RG who make my weekends wonderful with our weekend chat and sharing of different cultures, culinary skills etc :) Thanks to RG.

Miranda, on behalf of all your friends that know how much effort it costed to achieve this goal, I do spokesman of all your friends to express our sincere sympathy to your joy. I invite everyone to join me in this tribute to our dear Miranda.
Thanks dear Profs. Sorry for late response. I'm out of office, to do some work for my Ministry of Education, and so my devices are all off during meetings. It's 6.10 pm now and I can send you a thanks, for reply to your kindness. Let me send you a view of the interior of the hotel and a view from scenic Ipoh, Perak. It's a historical town :)
@ Dear Miranda many thanks for sharing your experience and congrats for coming up with a publication which is a collaborative work at RG which makes it unique..... all the best.
i hate virtual relationships, i hate facebook, twitter....BUT i am RG addict.
my RG experience is first to boost my research works, secondly to improve my very bad english but sometimes i like discussions with people from different countries.
After developing estimation methodology used for energy industry establishment surveys, for official statistics, I came to RG because a friend and colleague at work suggested it as a place to make my R&D accessible, into the future. Since then I've noted that in the Q & A, most people are open-minded and learn from each other - there is a good "cross-pollination." :-)
At the (North American) Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) it seemed a good idea to attend a session now-and-then, outside of my immediate fields. So too can RG help to broaden one's perspective.
