I have not found any research which mentioned the language learning strategies that students use informally to improve their English with reference to the use of ICTs.
T hank you Hossam Omar. My focus is informal learning strategies that students use to learn English at home or at their pleasure time through using the ICTs .
Another great informal way is to turn the TV captions on and let the learning begin! Watching TV with captions turned on improves vocabulary, spelling, and reading comprehension.
Thank you for you comments. I am searching for a scientific or empirical study that classify the informal learning strategies. If anyone can suggest, I will be thankful.
All methods in English can help improve English more or less but the point that matters is how efficient the practice would be, given most people have quite limited time to learn and practice. Therefore, you had better develop a strategy of learning English that warrants more effects at least cost of time.
Allen Tsai I want to understand if there is any classifications for the strategies utilized by learners at informal sittings. So that we can suggest such strategies to learners at rural contexts. Regards
When it comes to learning, efficiency is meant to be the most important part that has to be taken into account for a learner. Considering this key factor is not well involved in the book, a number of useless "strategies" for readers could be presented with no evidence. I have read only too many useless strategies suggested by inexperienced language learners/teachers for these poor language learners who have no concept of how to acquire a foreign language. Sincerely, I do think these advice had better be well appraised.
