Are you familiar with Instructional Engineering? Have you seen it in the literature or heard it at conferences? What does it mean to you? Do you use "engineering" approaches in your instructional and curriculum design?
I am particularly interested in the areas of CALL and MALL, but comments from any academic discipline are welcome.
I may be writing about "Instructional Engineering" in the near future, so I am interested in your perspectives.
Though I am listening the word for the first time...instructional engineering is technique that is meant for instruction with the minimum use of resources and achieving instructional objectives in minimum time.
A little broader than instructional design and utilising technology to its best while not ignoring cognitive processes.
It could convince me while instructional design has five stages started with analysis through designing and developing, then comes the implementation and evaluation phases. Although, in the designing phase you construct or reconstruct learning content according to many factors such as learners' needs and the targeted knowledge and skills to be acquired, in addition to build the required intervention and measurement tools. So, it is a kind of scientific construction which could be so-called "Instructional Engineering"
