I'm using Lomb periodogram for spectral analysis and I don't know how to use the filters

I believe that the window width would make bias or error if it becomes narrower than a certain point. it doesn't make sense to me as I can make any peak significant by changing the window size. if anyone has a good reference on the subject it would be great.
