When fixing for the micronucleus assay, methanol/acetic acid/ringer fixation is used, followed by methanol/acetic acid without ringer. I was wondering what the function of the ringer was. Any reference to an article is welcome.
Just a guess but the Ringer might have a double function, it regulates the ion-strength of the solution and as a buffer it stabilizes the pH. The methanol/acetic acid must be more acidic the buffered one.
