I am looking for a data sources that collects, stores and make available spectral signatures of vegetation (either crop or natural vegetation), preferably of European vegetation. There are some databases out there such as ECOSTRESS but they either don't focus on European vegetation, don't hold vegetation signatures at all or are no longer maintained or up to date. I am very interested in this for assessing and analysing vegetation phenology and vegetation stress using multi- and hypersprectral data in relation to ecosystem services.

Perhaps you can find some on https://ecosis.org/, they seem to have collated quite a few datasets with European vegetation in them as well!
Maybe you find something useful in my old paper with Peter Esselink on ground-based 3-band reflectance measurement of European salt-marsh vegetation and on hyper-spectral data processing of mangrove vegetation.

Thank you for your answers. Yes, ecosis is a good repository of spectral signatures. Not that many European datasets though. Just like with the study of Hein, there seems to be plenty of studies out there but it all seems rather fragmented. The US Geological Survey has its spectral library but it contains mostly spectra of minerals and man made materials. But there is some vegetation. Also the mentioned ECOSTRESS library (formerly ASTER) of the JPL has now included some vegetation and more will be added. The ECOSTRESS mission at the ISS btw. is conducting interesting vegetation stress monitoring. I started this question because it seems at an European level there is a lack of a central repository as like the USGS and JPL one that contains vegetation spectra. Not that I am aware of. Collecting this sort of data is a big undertaking considering the amount of different vegetation species out there. The right conditions, methodologies, sampling rates, accuracy assessments, etc. need to be designed. But in these times of Climate Change, there is a big need on information on vegetation stress and heat stress. For biodiversity monitoring but also for agriculture. Some key species could be selected that can act as indicators to assess and monitor these stresses. I think these kinds of repositories are needed.

TRY is a database storing morphological, anatomical, biochemical, physiological or phenological features of individuals or their component organs or tissues , obtained via a range of methods including RS and field vegetation spectral signatures.

In our organization, a database of types of ground cover is being created, in which a large role is assigned to agricultural crops and woody vegetation. Since Ukraine belongs to Europe, I think these data may interest you. Unfortunately, there is no open access to the database yet. Email me if you have any questions.
