I have two exogenous variables in my model, both have different sets of mediating variables and there are three outcome variables in my model. When I run the structural model in AMOS, the correlation between two exogenous variable is -0.9, what does that mean, moreover, the two exogenous variables are behaving opposite to each other theoretically in my research, please guide whether it is must to correlate them, or I can treat them independently in the same model
Did you examine the basic correlation matrix before you ran AMOS? As far as I know, the structural model does not affect the correlation between exogenous variables.
Are you sure these two variables not only behave in opposite ways statistically, but also describe the same thing, just in opposite words? Such strong correlation must throw your entire analysis off because of multicollinearity.
It simply means the two constructs are inversely related. Its not wrong and it does not carry much implication to the model. The purpose for estimating the correlation between exogenous constructs is to assess the multicollinearity effects if the absolute value of correlation is greater than 0.85.

Thank Sir Oleksiy, these two variables have been shown to correlate moderately positively in two meta-analysis conducted in Western context, but in our collectivist culture, these two are behaving opposite to each other.

When you get strong correlation coefficient between exogenous variables probably in the correlation matrix table it is very indicative of multicolinearity problem and you risk having very spurious results. you should determine the Variance inflation factor to show extent of multicollinearity and rethink about the model specification. you should also check on the priori expectations on the possible correlation between the particular exogeneous variables. you have mentioned the contractions in results across regions all that may point out to country specificities.
