I read the article "A Comprehensive Model for Investigation of CO2-EOR with Nanopore Confinement in the Bakken Tight Oil Reservoir" and it refereed " CO2 injection is an effective enhanced oil recovery (EOR) method in unconventional oil reservoirs. However, the investigation of CO2 Huff-n-Puff in tight oil reservoirs with nanopore confinement is lacking in the petroleum industry. The conventional models need to be modified to consider the nanopore confinement in both phase equilibrium and fluid transport. Hence, we develop an efficient model to fill this gap and apply it in the field production of the Bakken tight oil reservoir. Complex fracture geometries are also handled in this model. "

CO2 Huff-n-Puff is basically a well stimulation technique in one well, which composes mainly three stages i.e., 1)inject CO2 into a single production well (huff), 2) shut in the well to allow CO2 to dissipate and dissolve, and 3) produce the well back (puff)

I agree: Huff is injecting CO2 and Puff is producing the well. Oil-field jargon.
Huff and puff is also used when Nirogen( Liquefied) is injected into oil well production tubing to off load water column in order to bring the well on production.
So N2 injection is Huff and fluid production from well is puff.
In oil & gas, huff and puff refers to process involving alternating injection and production from the same well bore. The approach is used at large scale only with steam as injected fluid. Alternating injection production has advantages in term of well deliverability (hence can be seen as a well stimulation technique) but also in term of recovery enhancement. In CSS (cyclic steam soak) recovery is achieved through a combination of water (mostly) and gas sweep and thermal expansion. It is said to have been discovered following the high production observed at after an accidental steam release at freshly started injector in Venezuela (I have not traced back such statement so I dont know if it is true).
The term ‘Huff-and-Puff' is usually used for a single-well stimulation process in which the fluid is injected into a single well, the well is later shut-in and the fluid is allowed to soak into the oil for a period of time. This allows the fluid to absorb and swell on the oil which loosens it. The final step is to open the well and bring it back into production. Fluids such as steam, carbon dioxide and nitrogen gas have been extensively used for both research and field applications. You can go through the attached files for more details.
Huff-n-puff or Cyclic injection is a single-well process in which gas is injected into an oil well. The well is shut in for a period to soak. The same well is then put back in production, and if the process is successful, oil recovery will increase.
