I am currently studying the nanoindentation of solids; currently I can obtain the Young's modulus and hardness of the solid material. However, I wanna observer the deformation process (especially the plastic deformation processing) during the simulation process. How can I achieve this aim?
I read one article ("2000 Amorphization and anisotropic fracture dynamics during nanoindentation of silicon nitride-A multimillion atom molecular dynamics study") and it says " The simulation space was divided into 10*10*10 angstroms cells and the stress tensor was computed in each cell from the virial. A color was assigned to each cell according to the magnitude of the trace of the stress tensor (the pressure) to obtain a local pressure distribution." Still, I do not know how to achieve this? using a special software or writing codes?
