Thank you very much for your answer. That is an interesting idea and it is frequently if there are problems in the science to explain something- than there exist two ore more explanations. Best regards, Eva Dust
For those who didn´t read the Thomas´ Gold book and would like to participate in the discussion initiated by Eva, below you have a link to the 1992 paper summarizing the main arguments of the Gold´s thesis:
We have observed the biomarker in commercial interesting accumulation of hydrocarbons but we can not ignore the finger print of diamond and rare heavy metals like vanadium, tungsten, etc that indicate it has been produced at mantle level conditions. So we required a new theory that can reconcile the both scientific evidences and very simple answer is hydrocarbons has been originally produced at mantle level condition and has been seeped up on the surface of the earth in past geological time and has been reburied after mixing with the organic matter from the surface of the earth. This is the only possible model that can reconcile all the valid evidences by the [email protected]
The occurence and composition of organic matter in sediments and sedimentary rocks reflect the enormous number of variables that influence the terrestrial or aquatic environments in which it is generated, its transport to the depositional site, and its alteration once deposited.
Can anybody show me any scientific paper that can prove kerogen and bitumen has been formed from deceased organic matter. yes, i fully agreed it has been derived from organic rich sedimentary rocks .it doen't mean it has been formed from deceased organic matter only. This is the main flaw in current fossil fuel theory.
Can any body show me any scientific paper that can prove that kerogen ,the precursor of global petroleum has been formed from deceased organic matter. Yes, i fully agreed it has been derived from organic rich sedimentary rocks ,it doesn't mean it has been formed from deceased organic matter. Yes,i fully agreed that biotic characteristics has been injected in it the burial history of the mixture of organic matter and pre generated abiotic kerogen ( once present on the surface of the earth). This is the main flaw in current fossil fuel theory. It can never be true because it do not reconcile the valid evidence by the followers of abiotic theory, while in my model you can reconcile all the valid evidences by the both. It is high time to wake up and this can give major clue to find new locations of oil and gas. There can be a revolution in the petroleum industry. There is no need to change the current method but new signatures can be added.
We required a new balanced theory that can reconcile the strong work of the both current biotic and abiotic theory . there is no need to ignore the strong work of each others, reason this matter is unresolved. according to me oil has been expelled from those sediments only ,essentially has been formed with the involvement of abiotic hydrocarbons that were huge once present on the surface of the earth in past geological time ,like currently present on the surface of the Titan. sediments that has been formed without any involvement of these abiotic hydrocarbons are not suitable to form commercial interesting accumulations of hydrocarbons. so abiotic sources are the major contributor in commercial interesting accumulations of hydrocarbons.
We have sufficient evidences that majority of commercially interesting hydrocarbons have been expelled from organic rich source rock and are trapped in the reservoir rocks. We also have the evidences showing presence of biological molecules in all commercial oils.
We have observed the abundance of similar hydrocarbons on many other planetary bodies viz. comets and moons (eg. Titan) etc. which are thought to have been formed without any involvement of any biological material . The common association of hydrocarbons with the inert gas helium is also not explainable in current theory of biotic origin of petroleum. We have observed presence of some traces element like V, Ni, Cu, Co, Zn.. etc in hydrocarbons which also do not clearly explain the biotic origin of petroleum ( szatmari et al,2005). According to the author of the paper ,they have analyzed 68 Brazilian oil and nine foreign oils and determined 24 metal traces in the oils showed fine correlation of the oils with CI chondrite and mantle peridotites, and worse correlation with oceanic and continental crust, and none with seawater. No doubt, the biotic theory has some important evidences but on the other hand the followers of abiotic theory also have strong evidences which cannot be denied. So we require a new theory that can reconcile the strong evidences of both the current theories. Taking strong evidences of both the theories we can easily conclude it.
Majority of commercially interesting hydrocarbons accumulations have been formed from the organic rich sedimentary source rocks but essentially from those which has been formed with the involvement of abiotic hydrocarbons. And these abiotic hydrocarbons were once hugely present on the surface of the earth in past geological time. Sedimentary rocks that have been formed without any involvement of these abiotic hydrocarbons are not suitable to form commercial hydrocarbons deposits. So abiotic sources are the major contributor in the commercial accumulations of hydrocarbons. Hence a well balanced theory is today’s major requirement which will help future hydrocarbon exploration efficiently.
