Those researchers base their argument on the (true) point that by definition the immune system is conceived to distinguish self from non-self. Therefore the immune system would not ever recognize tumor cells, since they are still "self". I think the immune response has such a great potential to help get rid of cancer cells; that there is always the possibility to find good targets against cancer. That is why we should collect several points of view to discuss with our pals and encourage people to get the right tracks. I mean instead of shutting up, just like most of them would like us to do. By the way, in cases where infectious pathogens like viruses are involved, it does not count (they say) because those are just "exceptions". Help me out dear colleagues!
