If you have an idea in a field (a new one) and you want to give it to another researcher (company for example) who possess necessary means to realize and improve this starter idea.
Do you think that the person with the idea could benefit any reward when the product reach the market?

It is mostly rewarded but if reverse engineering will be used may be different situation. Some country doesn't have strong intellectual property right in that case also it will be different
