Hello, I never work with this experimental model, but I read that there are some controversies between different authors and so the model needs to be better studied. While some studies show that the model is characterized by peripheral resistance to insulin, others show that it is characterized by a decrease in the activity of pancreatic beta cells with consequent reduction of insulin production. Glucocorticoid-induced insulin resistance is not transient. The phenotype presented by rats is suggestive of metabolic syndrome or type 2 diabetes.
