As far as culture is concerned, unsurpassed. As far as politics is concerned - stable government formation - Italy has probably been rather unstable within the EU, but today the situation in the UK is teaching us otherwise. Commentators claim that the UK is currently ungovernable. Well.

Practically everybody in Brazil has at least an Italian relative. Italy=FOOD.
We love the Mediterranean Holly Trinity: cheese, tomatoes and olive oil.
By the way, what people call Italian cuisine is actually more Italian-American.
Tiramisu needs vanilla, sugar and chocolate.
Pizza, lasagna and pasta need tomatoes.
Polenta needs corn.
Gnocci needs potatoes, although it can be done with other products.
And how about an espresso?
All of the above-mentioned ingredients are AMERICAN!!!

Italy is also famous for more than 100 inventions, especially energy related inventions are very important.
A place where rules were made so that you can weave your way out of them.
A great place for health eating and drinking.

I must agree with Parisa, except for the connection with the mafia.
For me, Italy is about:
- beautiful and melodious language
- family and religious values
- relentless spirit
- la joie de vivre (in all its expressions - gesticulation included :) )
- rich and tumultuous history (e.g. warring states, cradle of the Renaissance)
- good international trade
- shrewd (but misunderstood) politicians before the 20th century, and let us not forget
- classical literature and music.
It is well known that Scandinavians particularly appreciate Italy as a holiday destination, but also as a source of European culture. But I have also met Italians in Norway who have moved from their home country to Norway because the economy is flourishing and career opportunities are attractive; however, immigration restrictions have recently become stronger.
Italy is the country of origin of the opera and has been for centuries the destination of the most famous composers of other countries (including Handel and Mozart) to learn from Italian composers.
Such a beautiful place! I would love to visit Italy one day.

It is very strange that South Tyrol is said to be the richest of the Italian provinces. However, German is spoken predominantly there, at least in the families. But also Italian, of course. It is an advantage if children grow up bilingual.
Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni" plays in Spain but - as usual in his time - is written in Italian (text by Lorenzo da Ponte). In the register aria Don Giovanni's servant Leporello lists the number of beautiful women seduced by his master:
"In Italy, forty-six hundred and forty,
Here in Germany, two hundred and thirty,
One hundred in France and ninety in Persia,
But in Spain, yes, in Spain.
A thousand and three already."
I'm not quite sure if that's true. I doubt that the number of seductions - at least of "Don Giovanni" - was higher in Spain than in Italy. - What do you think?

Italy is a wonderful tourist country, its food is great, its fashion is great, Italian pizza and Italian spaghetti are among the finest countries in the world, but the cost of living is high.
Italy is the oldest cultural country in Europe and has remained so since the time of the Roman Empire. This is only a guess. History experts should test and answer the hypothesis.
It depends, for visit yes highly recommended but not to live! Thats what i believe

I think Germany has benefited much more from the culture of Italy - from music to food - than the other way round; but I can't assess the German influence on Italy well enough.
Extremely friendly people. In fact, one of the friendliest bunch in the world.

Socially there are still problems of discrimination
Within a relatively short period of time Italy produced artists, painters, sculptors, composers and scholars of international standing.
I had visited Italia only once. I wanted to visit Milan as it is one of the four fashion capitals (London, Milan, Paris and New York) of the world.
But the part of Itali that I liked most is stresa ilands and lake Maggior: the calm, serene and beautiful place to dwell in peacefully. I spent a week days time with my family and I really enjoyed my stay over there. Cardini restaurant (a sort of heritage place) over there serves you excellent Italian food.
