What is equality in education? I read animal farm by George Orwell in my literature class when I was a third year university student. Frankly speaking, I dearly love this short novel because it helps me understand power relations. If equity in education is what we strive for, why some students seem are made more equal than other people do? Have you ever thought about this? So are all animals equal? I seriously do not understand why there is still a gap in education, while everyone says we should fight for an equal future.
Maybe I have a bold idea but isn’t that possible that we can build a utopian that is equal to everyone else? I know it sounds impossible. I am just kind of curious though.
Well I am not criticising any parties that exist in this world because they all have a reason to flourish. i don’t wanna this kind of topic gets politicized because I am more concerned about education. With that said, I have been educated well in non-western and western countries so I would say there is no absolute perfect system. Up to what kind of lenses are you adopting. So I appreciate the educational opportunities I had in different countries that allow me see through some issues embedded in education as a whole. I quite love a concept that is called imagined community - an ideal way to approach education and inequalities.
I am not here trying to convince you about some impositions about what I dream about in education. This is a global crisis. I read other researchers‘ articles and did teaching internships transnationally. Many people cannot get quality of resources to study and to be a better version of themselves. why? I guess you have a reason for that. look at Khan academy And Duolingo. if educational inequality only is something about my dream interpretation, why on earth we are fighting for an equal future? (We means global educators)
