You can adjust the static fuel injection timing by adjusting the shim thickness if you are using mechanical fuel injection system. If you are using common rail system, you can adjust timing by using proper software like Bosch INCA or custom written code in Labview. Hope this helps you.
By increasing or decreasing shim (placed in fuel pump) thickness, we can change the timing respective to your condition whether advancing or retarding the timing. if you want to retard increase the shim thickness and for advance decrease the shim thickness.
The most common procedure to adjust the diesel injection pump timing is to program the ECM. It can be very easy using some advanced softwares by doing some normal programming. ECM can be programmed accordingly for the engine to generate more power as per requirement.
