Hi there,

My area of research is an aqueous Zinc ion battery and my goal is to find the binding affinity and thermodynamic properties of Zn-ions binding with polyacrylic acid (PAA) by ITC experiment. Here is some details which I know and what I want to know;

  • For my work, the Average molecular weight(Mw) of PAA is 12000, which is not quite higher. This is why expect the Ka value will be in the range of (1×104-1×105)M-1. Similarly, the stoichiometry of Zn -ions binding with PAA seems to be in 1:2 ratio, which means the value of n is 0.5, but I'm not sure about its stoichiometry.
  • I also know that people have used acetate buffer solution of concentration 20mM and pH equals 5 for this system.
  • Since, ZnSO4 is common salt in aqueous zinc ion battery, I want to use it for my experiment.
  • If it is so, could someone tell me,

  • What concentration of ZnSO4 should I need to prepare and what vol. of it should I inject?
  • What the concentration of PAA should I prepare and what vol of it should I take in reaction vessel?
  • Please help me with your good suggestion. Your small reply will save my enough time.

    Thank you.
