Atmospheric aerosol particles affect atmospheric radiation and air quility, and there are various size particles in air. Humidity, gravity, air velocity and other fators may influence particles state (aggregate/agglomerate, disperse,sedimentation etc.)
Are there physical models to interpret the state of atmospheric particles?

I do not think the QUALITY of the particles (i.e. the size) matters as much as overall QUANTITY for weather effects. We measure PM2.5 because of lung issues, but in terms of weather effects, the weight in micrograms per cubic meter seems to be a better measure. That is being done worldwide in Monterey CAL by the US Navy at https://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/aerosol/ under their NAAPS program.
They measure sulfate, dust and smoke. The atmospheric dust is the most powerful weather modifier on the planet, able to kill a Category-5 cyclone, like GONU at https://www.ecoseeds.com/GONU.html
If you overlay the NAAPS atmospheric dust images against storm track, you can see how they can cause drought and eliminate rainfall that should have been experienced in places, but the dust eliminated those clouds before they could bring rain. Revegetating the Gobi desert along with other arid parts of western China, with even a very thin layer of local native plants, could help northern China become less drought-prone, by eliminating the rainfall-blocking atmospheric dust.
Plus, China could be sequestering much of their CO2 produced each year, into the soil with those native plants. Once that CO2 is put into the soil, it stays there for at least 300 years, according to radiocarbon dating I did last year on the soil of a desert grass in Nevada.
As little as 40 micrograms of dust per cubic meter, can erase rain clouds! Today's NAAPS dust image of China. Wherever you have dust, you will have drought and zero rainfall. Replanting the native plants to eliminate the atmospheric dust, could solve two problems--eliminate droughts and increase rainfall, plus China could immediately become carbon neutral, by replanting and putting as much carbon back into the soil, as is burned each year.
If you do some work making the connections between the atmospheric dust and killing rain clouds, let me know.

I have just a few additional observations after a very brief reading of the papers suggested in this discussion thread.
The physical model that we can employ to describe a population of atmospheric aerosol particles is rather complex because it is based on the stochastic coagulation equation of Smoluchowski imbedded in the advection diffusion equation taking into account transport processes. At the same time, we need to keep a track of the internal composition of particles which include solid cores and liquid surrounding, in both cases the chemical composition is not simple. According to my review of the recent literature, a complete model is still beyond our reach. The nature of the aerosol system indeed indicates that the nature is too complex to admit anything but approximations to paraphrase the well known statement of John von Neumann.
