We recently acquired a previously owned Microbeta Trilux 1450 but the counting efficiency is a lot less than the the Topcount we were previously using. The Microbeta's efficiency for sulfur-35 is around 14% whereas the Topcount was around 60%. We're using Perkin Elmer GF/C filterplates with Microscint-20.
Figured it out. The Microbeta has two photomultiplier tubes, in the options it is set to default to both the top and bottom PMT but filter plates need to be read only from top PMT. Efficiency around 75% now.
Greetings, Thomas. I am planning to do the sulfur-35 experiment using both Microbeta Trilux 1450 and Perkin Elmer Unifilter GF/C microplates, just as you did. I was wondering how the plates could run in 1450. Is there any type of cassettes needed since the filter plates seem a lot smaller than the shelves in the machine? Thanks in advance !
