They can be used by students in Travel and Tourism in helping them to plan their tours for tour packaging. But, you must point out that desktop planning of tours must be supported by site visits as the digital maps cannot capture logistics. For example, the map can help to determine the distance from the airport to your client's hotel, but what it would not do is to tell you that you should have a separate vehicle for transporting only their luggage when it's a small group and they are staying for at least two weeks.

I love digital maps and a local one for people settling into the area and more used to GSM than latitude and longitude would great fun for digital students to enhance new people's experience throughout college. Something simple enough for those with little English and friendly enough for those who came before generation X or can not access computers with ease. The Guardian newspaper presents some fascinating surveys as do some of the excellent London colleges on-line as digital maps....of course things on the ground can be a little different.
