I’ve conducted a series of oedometer tests using fully saturated undisturbed clay samples (w: 41.46%; LL: 35.1%; PI: 13.3; Gs: 2.672). The cylindrical specimens were 6cm in diameter and 2cm in thickness. Identical specimens were investigated for double drainage and single drainage separately. The samples with double drainage had 25% more instant deformation on average than samples with single drainage. I’d be grateful if anyone help me to explain this phenomenon.
