instead of undergoing a rigorous process of using a spectrometer to detect a color change in a reaction between chemical substances. which sensor can fit in to replace the spectrometer?
For just a color change, maybe simply with a color camera along with a well controlled white light source. Or a black&white camera or a simple photodiode along with monochromatic illumination with well choosen wavelenghts usind LEDs....

Colorimeters cab be the best and low-cost alternatives to a sprectophotometer if you want to monitor the change of color in a solution.
