May I know what are the reasons contributed to the higher COD at the effluent of anoxic biological treatment as compared to the influent COD? (I am using mixed bacterial culture here) I suspect that it is due to the formation of aromatic amine ( a kind of recalcitrant intermediate metabolite formed after anoxic decolorization, break down of azo bond), however, most of the journal articles did not suffer this problem. The dye-containing wastewater consists of sole diazo dye and some trace element in very low ppm. I am using COD titrimetric method to evaluate the COD of the anoxic effluent COD.
