Communication is an important aspect of organizational management system. Management's communication style and process, is likely to have wider impact on the overall psyche of the employees. certainly, this could be an area of research to explore the link between management communication and employee behavioural aspect. By now, it is understood that communication gap leads to mistrust and conflict. Further transparency in management communication is essential for implementation of change in organizational system, in response to changes in business environment, so as to gain the confidence of employees for making the change process smooth. Management communication is likely to have direct impact on employee motivation and job satisfaction.

I may be biased, but my research interest is on 'callings in the workplace'. People with callings often find their work as an inextricable part of their identity. There have been numerous studies from researchers Dik, Hirschi, Duffy, Eldridge, Wrzesniewski, Steger, Autin, Chandler, Hall, Thompson, Bunderson among many others who explore the relationships between the organization and these individuals. While I know very little about internal communication, from what you and the other contributors have written, it seems like it could be an innovative way forward - e.g., how is internal communication interpreted and effected by individuals who are following their calling?, or, do people, who are living their calling act as buffers against the mistrust and conflict Mr. Dattagupta referred to above in organizational settings?

my thesis was on internal communication, unfortunately only in Croatian so I cannot recommend it. but there are some excellent authors researches on this issues I quoted in my work.

Look at the transformation from functional management to process management within an organization. You will address cross-functional communication and the demise of the Silo effect.

Cross-functional communication is the latest in internal communication and you will address organizational culture and leadership in the process of the research.

As for the second paragraph of your question, look into the Job Characteristic Model and the issue of trust between the Org and the employees. You will cover: Turnover? Motivation? Commitment? Job Satisfaction?
