Crystallinity is a term loosely used to represent a disordered material. For thermally sprayed coatings, this is usually referred to the amorphous phase relative to the total (amorphous + crystalline material). How have you defined crystallinity?
If you referred to the amorphous phase, then de Bruijn back in the 1990's in his PhD showed that the amorphous phase promoted faster bone formation. Is there any more detailed information available?

There are a few papers on this issue. But I gues this question should be considered at different levels. For example alpha alumina and gamma alumina have different mechanical properties and even diverse reactivities!
In our investigations we work with coatings on natural fibers textiles. It means that temperatures used are below 150oC and coatigs with such temp. are purely amorphous, Some crystallinity of coatings could be obtained with low processingtemperatures too, but then very long processing time is needed.
