Even if fabrication gets undetected, for example, in small journals, that will not get any citation since people will not be able to repeat it. But publishing in high profile journals, that gets immediate attention of everyone in the field. One can not get away with this kind of info. One can run but can not hide,
This is a internet world, everything published anywhere gets to many sites right away, Good info gets fame and get attention of companies if any value to drugs. Majority of researchers dedicate their life to science. Exceptions can be ignored.
