There is age, gender, ethnic groups, religion etc but what if these constructs are summarized in to one construct..So, what could be the other possible summarized constructs?
I think our consciousness constantly produces such constructs, which include different variables depending on the situation. But age, the categories "foreign - familiar", "socially higher - socially lower than me", "male - female" will play a role.
For a while I also worked as a student trainee on a machine. The only task was to cleanly cut metal caps for perfume bottles. That was what the machine did with every single piece. All I had to do was press a button. That was diversity in the workplace. Today everything is only fully automatic anyway and my workstation was certainly cut away.
Diversity covers several aspects such as gender, nationality, ethnic group, sexual orientation, disabilities, social status, financial status, professional category or position, age (seniors versus juniors), generation (baby boomers, X, Y, Z).
We should also be concerned beyond diversity with the real inclusion of a diverse workforce.
