I want to devise biorthogonal wavelets for image compression. I am using this wavelet and compressing images using EZW, SPHT, WDR, STW, ASWDR and any new algorithms. 

I am considering the length of the scaling and wavelet filers into consideration. As well as the shape of the function, (along with standard spline) modified spline functions are considered. 

I want to know what are the other important parameters to consider to get better compression performance.
