Adjusting academic language and technical reports so that it is accessible and relevent to non-academic audiences is becoming more and more important.

I think the world has changed and we should think in a more advanced way for the same, which will take some time for us to understand.

But definitely, a more focussed and collaborative approach, sharing of best practices with like-minded people/organizations, the partial or total collaboration will be required.

Hi Cory Jensen ! Recently the concept of "popular science story" is coming up. Basically, it's about articulating your research for a general audience or even an academic audience with no expertise in your area. I am writing blogs about my research articles in a more digestible way without any jargon. The focus essentially comes to the bigger picture of the work..why am I doing it? how is it important for the audience to know about it? etc. There is no limit to the amount of creativity one can put in here. I believe this is the future of science communication that can foster not only collabs between sciences abut also between science and other humanitarian or commercial sectors

I agree with Dean Whitehead , in these times sharing research is not restricted only to academicians but to the lay public as well. The language of science is changing.

I see a continual stream in my newsfeeds of popularized articles based on research.

Many universities employ science writers to do exactly this, put complex research in terms that the average person can relate to.

Currently, social media portals dominate in the promotion of specific content, texts, publications, including scientific works. Increasing the effectiveness of this promotion is carried out through the available internet marketing instruments that are offered, among others, by social media portals.

Very interesting and relevant question, which I am too trying to find an answer to.

I struggle with what to share, rather than the channel. I wonder whether articles and reports are the way to do this. I think that we as researchers are used to this way of communicating, but I wonder whether my target audience ever reads these elaborate reports and articles.

So far I came up with trying to visualize key findings (infographic style), as our brain seems to process images better than text (more on this here: https://neomam.com/interactive/13reasons/).

Does anyone have other ideas or perhaps experience with making vlogs/videos (and willing to share tips)?

i think academic research work can be best communicated in several ways, for those in the core academia, the research gate platform, google platform and science bulletins are good platforms. also, faculty bulletins are also good communication platforms for disseminating research work locally.

For maximum reach, the scientific solutions to complex societal problems are communication with common masses at social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
