For my PhD research I am examining young women's experiences of contemporary, televisual fiction. My theoretical approach is Lacanian psychoanalysis and associated concepts. The methods used for data collection were psychoanalysis as method synthesised with the oral history/life history interview. My questions were asked and data collected within the context of what I called an online, virtual clinic. My method of psychoanalysis is not faithful to any epistemological or ontological position, but due the empirical contexts of television I am working with being what they are, this psychoanalytic position is countered. Would it be an idealist ontology and constructivist epistemology? I am really struggling with these small sections. Any help greatly appreciated.
