Recent new methods to improve adventitious rooting I have read include 1) ethylene treatment before auxin, 2) nitric oxide and 3) inhibition of strigolactone using fluridone.
I would like to know and read more articles and examples about:
A. are these methods applicable across many plant taxa from eudicot-monocot-paleodicot to gymnosperm and even fern and allies? Herbaceous to woody plants? (i.e. rule or exception?) Have many plants been tested, especially on woody magnoliids?
B. other new methods?

can you be more specific as to what plants you are interested in as techniques vary considerably from one species to another . Trends shown by Arabidopsis are hardly applicable to many woody species . I might suggest that if this is of serious interest you join the International Plant Propagators Society , perhaps the Australian , New Zealand or Japan Regions , although you could join as a free agent . Nevertheless the proceedings go back to 1950 and to the present , all are available online . If you can list one or several species of interest to you I will do what ever I can to give you the latest information . The subject is too vast for lack of specificity .

The plant that I am going to work on is Magnolia sp. trees and shrubs but I am generally interested in many wild tropical woody species.
Many tropical woody plants are known to be difficult-to-root. I think this situation showed that the process of adventitious rooting is poorly understood. Studies on model plants are improving the knowledge in adventitious rooting, and a study attached above showed that ethylene can improve rooting in Pinus, a gymnosperm.
That is why I am asking about advances in broadly-applicable methods to induce adventitious rooting, and results when these methods are applied in many plant taxa.
I will refine my question to emphasize woody plant. Thank you very much.
There is a very important point about woody plants that I named Barnes Law some few years ago . If a plant is known to produce copious amounts of seed then as that plant ages rooting ability goes down appreciably whereas if a plant produces small amounts of seed rooting ability remains intact . This is related to juvenility but to something else within the plant , that said keep in mind that heavy fruiting in plants tends to create situations where the plant will not root . Guava (Psidium is a good example,once flowering and fruit set has started rooting ability goes way down , in this case almost to 0. Magnolia can be rooted but my experience indicates that there are distinct divisions in the Magnoliacea , division one roots easilty , such as some of the common deciduous Magnolia species and division two where nothing in the group will root or at least very sparingly . This is also a good example of the Barnes Law , Magnolia x soulangiana roots well, but sets fruit that is in general not a lot or the seed is hollow and unfit . Magnolia virginiana on the other hand sets lots of fruit and seeds that are all good and roots poorly . I would have to ask which groups do you intended subjects belong too. Ones that fruit heavily are going to be tough to root . There is another consideration here . Magnolia traditionally have very pithy stems , the presence of pith in the center of a stem sets up a situation that prevents rooting , not sure why this is but it is an established fact. Pith also allows for water and bacteria to enter the stem and setup an infection that will cause rotting of the stem , not a good situation. One way to get around this problem is to seal the end of the stem if pithy with molten wax and wound on the side of the stem and apply a common rooting hormone but do not remove the wax plug , the wax keeps pathogens out . The selection of wood for cutting is important and cuttings can selected to avoid the pith problem but they are few and far between . Many Magnolias in commercial production are either grafted (but beware pith can create problems in grafting too) or budded via chip budding . Chip budding is perhaps the most effective means of propagation of Magnolia . Many Magnolia do better as budded plants than on their own roots .
