Knowing that high temperature used in ignition method may alter the solubility of Inorganic P and affect the accuracy of organic phosphorus measurements, and the use of strong acids may hydrolyse some Organic P fractions (RNA, DNA) and lower the estimate of O-P. I wonder what are the most accurate methods to assess the total fractions of O-P?
Traditional soil P tests, however, may not accurately assess plant-available P in soils ranging widely in properties. Accuracy of the widely used Olsen P in assessing available P to plants was studied. Single models based on Olsen P plus routinely determined soil properties, and single extractions with resins predict total available P in studied soils with sufficient accuracy.
