I am about to start with my thesis writing in bioinformatics. I've been told to follow with IMRaD format for writing. Could you suggest me a few important points in this regard? Kindly attach any of the good thesis if possible. Your suggestions are very important for me.
If you learn LaTeX now for writing your thesis (and perhaps a versioning system as well), you'll save a heap of time at the critical end of your research project when making final minor changes and blanket formatting modifications.

Concur with David Eccles: LaTeX is far and away *the* most powerful
tool for this sort of document. The time investment will pay dividends many
times over and you can even use LyX or one of the other front-end GUIs
if you don't want to write source content in a plain editor (though this is the
most powerful way to use it). While not a thesis, here is an example of a
fairly complicated document that would not have been possible without
LaTeX:

Thank you Jane, David, Thomas and Michael. Your suggestions have helped me a lot. actually speaking my university has no specific formats for thesis. I tried for LaTeX, googled for its reviews, and I really found it interesting when compared to MS word. I used MiKTeX (as I went through to homepage of LaTeX). I still have to try for LyX. Which would be the easiest editor that I can go for as a beginner. or are there any predesigned command file in .tex file format, that I can go with?
