You'll probably need a BSL 2 because you could find pathogens and accreditation by a national body of sorts.. That's just my guess...Depends on the country as well
it depends on the tests you are planning to do. for nutritional assessment you have to go for some nutritonal lab like proximate analysiis, VFA of meat. to know the microbial load- youu can refer microbio lab. ans prior permission is needed i feel depending on your study.
if you want to establish a lab then you have to go through regulatory bodies. but microbial examination and nutritional evaluations along with standard protocols like shelflife studu are needed at most.
