Currently I covet expand a policy on ecological tourism in Souk Ahras region that contains natural and touristic potentials and to make it a tourism expansion zone  

What do you think of this product?  The abacus was the 'fore runner' of our modern calculators, very much used in Chinese societies, throughout the world.

And I wonder if this umbrella is more helpful that the usual 'round' version in our tropical storm and rain?

I teach Medicine, and in itself this is to me, a public positive mission...

In terms of Research,  I am commited to study, perfect and publish on the subject of Human Anatomy.

My latest project is devoted to promote the Anatomical Terrminology to the wider Public. We have launched an online site, open to the public in general, where we commented and added legends to photos of an old (18th century ) anatomical model, that serves as a vehicle of public promotion of the modern anatomical terminology. (It is still under slow constructrion).

This is a tough question for me & has come before the time in which I shall list what I have given to my organization (which is the university in which I spent 31 years so far). My time of announcement will be after 2 years when I retire. All through the years of my career, I preferred to play a very low-key & nearly invisible but essential role. One clever colleague has discovered this few months ago & he told me that I have been the "unknown soldier, as he phrased it, in this place". I wish to be asked your very good question after 2 years.

my last works of public usefulness are represented by a new diagnostic test (to be patented) useful for address the therapy of a very common digestive disorder and  some studies on the diffusion of functional and organic intestinalk diorders among the students of high scohol in my town.

Along with other projects, I have been involved in two important projects:

1. For approving, implementing, constructing, and operationalizing the sewage water treatment plant in our university, probably the first university in North India.

2. Organizing National Service Scheme (NSS) camp for blood donation --- more than 1500 units of blood donated --- biggest camp in university syatem

In Industries, there is a continuous call for innovation, to build linkages between excellence in formal Operational systems and informal knowledge systems to network and link various stakeholders through application of various technologies and other means.

I have handled many projects, but two waste management projects, were real cherish able ones.

1. Salvaging Ceramic body of NS fuses in English Electric Co, (1988-90)

2. Making Bricks from Foundry Waste Sand in NELCAST (2011-12), this evolved to become a business entity.... (article is there in RG)

I am personally greatly influenced  by the three letters RAP,  essential requirements for the development of methodology:   reliability (accuracy and high precision), applicability (applicable to diverse sample matrices for wide applications in entire nuclear fuel cycle) and practicability (inherent high sensitivity, high PQ, simple, rapid and direct, easy calibration and operation, cost effective).

Among the various technologies, laser-induced fluorimetry is the method of choice for such applications, which can be used in the field as well as in a control laboratory.

Dear Miranda, during the first years of the decade of the 90ieth, I was involved in  computerization and numeration project of  the information system of the CSC (past udts/cnd) through computer aided management and decision making programs and systems. Later with artificial intelligence models application and expert systems adaptation for welding assurance quality mainly for pipe lines usage. In the decade of 2000 till 2010 i was involved in computerized ultrasonic testing for the same purpose, and the research of new or improved Ndt  processes or methods by means of modeling and computer aided methods from IA, optimization, imaging, filtering, FEM analysis etc... From 2010 till now i'm not  really involved in innovation projects, the mission and the framework of my job place looks like not well defined, there are phd students who are involved with their thesis projects in their universities and in the same time chiefs of their subjects or related  in CSC??? 'you can get a look to the web page of CSC to have some understanding of its organization. I was as well associate teacher in polytechnic school from 2003 till 2010 and master thesis director in Usthb from 1996 till 2004 as well in Ecole superieure d'informatique from 1994 till1996

Thanks dear Fairouz, Subhash, Enzo and all.  Here, necessity is the mother of invention.  At work, it's the people whose minds are close to their work who actually get ideas and innovate and get better ways of doing things.  At home, I like to be creative in my cooking, sewing and doing things in the house.

Within my work in the field of teaching, I tried to get most of the students attention in the lecture through using dialogue successive inquiries to present the lecture. Using a quick questions and give minute or more of time to students to think before answering them. Doing a questionnaire to students about the strengths and weaknesses of the teaching method and which are the preferred way to them.

Good day, 

we are working on "Valuation & Evaluation" of patents and finished projects that preformed by our researchers in my Ministry.  We are using special Criteria form which designed / Created  to suit our project. We are , also, using TRL (TECHNOLOGY READINESS LEVEL) which was tailer-made to fit the project. But the most difficult part is the networking to find the proper market,  even though we had done product "Landscaping", So we can do the commercialization properly.

Expect to see this ...A fully autonomous vehicle can drive from point A to point B and encounter the entire range of on-road scenarios without needing any interaction from the driver. These will debut in 2019.

Thanks for sharing your views and projects/ products of innovation.  @Barbara and Nizar, we are waiting for you to share your innovative ideas and research.  My research in music mnemonics is innovative; I just use the existing folk melodies and put in my lyrics.  I have a paper on collaborative learning that I have uploaded on RG.  In this, I try out a way by which students may be encouraged to be less selfish and more collaborative, to be seeing themselves as swimming or sinking with their group members.  In this college, we have always grouped students, but putting them in groups and telling them to work together does not mean that they will do so automatically and willingly.  (I put my latest article on mnemonics here.  I'm working on another project now, and it needs lots of thinking and time.   Thanks to all, I sent my question to only a handful of RG friends.)

Dear @Miranda, sorry for so late response. Better ever than never! The innovation projects that I have been realized was a family of didactic devices for automation laboratory. It covers many technologies like pneumatic, hydraulics, electrics, electronics, fluidics, ..., PLCs, mechatronics,... I hope it helped to my organisation to  fulfil its public mission in both areas, education as well as research!

In my institution it has been sold to support innovation processes for the agricultural sector that guide actions in technology for small farmers, knowledge management and capacity building. Institutional innovation processes are also supported with agricultural research institutes in the region and encourage innovation networks around a crop of agricultural interest, eg corn, beans, cassava, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes.

As per the mission and mandate of my organization, I have completed so many time bound projects from time to time.

As I am just concentrating on medical research to save disabled patients due to cerebral ischemia, I am very sorry that  not be able to  reply your question. Thank for your attention to me.

Thanks @Umeo Ito.  Each of us is very busy, and there are times when we cannot respond to everything.  We don't even have that much free time to spend on RG.  Thanks for many fine answers that I have received.  I think that the public sector lags behind the private sector in innovations, because of the nature of our work and the way our priorities have been set.  Thanks.

In my former institution ( Sonatrach ) , is to support the innovation process for industrial equipment , knowledge management and capacity building .

Now in my current institution , many research projects are underway.

After graduating from medical school, I studied pathological anatomy for 7 years as an postgraduate school student followed by assistant teacher getting PHD. I was invited to Department of Neurosurgery,  as a docent followed by associate professor. I went to NIH supported by Ministry of Eduction and further supported by NIH. My present study on mechanism of injuries and treatment of cerebral ischemia has been continued from the year 1972 started at NIH. I moved to a RedCross Hospital in Tokyo as an director of the department of neurosurgery for 20 years,  continuing the present research in parallel  at Metropolitan Medical  Institute of Tokyo.  

After retirement from the director of department of neurosurgery of Red Cross hospital in Tokyo,  I have continued my research work initiated at NIH, at Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medicine,  as well working at my private clinic. 

Is medical practice in the large hospital as well as in the private clinic have been involved in that helped our organisation fulfill its public mission?  Patient are  rescued their life and relieved their pain or agony.

Congrats Roland and all for the fruit of your labors.  I have just finished my class about half an hour ago, it's half past five here.

And I get back to the office to see that my director has signed my working paper for 'Three English Days a Week'.  Last year, one of the heads of dept opposed the idea of English days although his students aren't involved.  Only science students are taught and tested in English.  Students will use English in all formal and informal communication on Tuesdays through Thursdays, and I believe this will help them in being more at ease in answering exam questions in English.  (This is the first time we succeed to get this approved.)

I am associated with developing farmer and entrepreneur-friendly agro and processing technologies for economically important medicinal and aromatic plants for encouraging large-scale cultivation and businessin Deccan Plateau . These technologies resulted in commercial cultivation of these crops by tribal, dryland and women farmers and setting up of enterprises by educated, unemployed youth generating employment both in rural and urban areas. This has given a good name and visibility to our Institute that has become the preferred destination for farmers and entrepreneurs for sourcing opportunities in this emerging sector.

To facilitate and help the students, our University has started complete online system for admissions.

Congrats Prof Rao, I am sure that your efforts at developing farmer and entrepreneur-friendly agro and processing technologies for economically important medicinal and aromatic plants that generates employment both in rural and urban areas for women and young men are greatly appreciated, and very fulfilling.

@Subhash, here we use our Matric Info System (MIS) for admissions, but we key in data manually.  We process entries of students who register online or register manually, on the first day they come, each academic session.  And we key in the absences of students into that system, as well as in our hard copies, for the sake of ISO auditing.

Dear @Miranda, I was involved in the project of rehabilitation of water municipality system in Pozarevac, Serbia as an adviser for the part of automation. I have discovered a fraud about the equipment proposed and very high prices of that equipment. The value which was saved is 850.000,00 euros! My college and myself were recognized for and I have got the prize for it. The project was financed by EU!

Wonderful, dear @Ljubomir.  It's your talent to detect fraud, inconsistencies and to speak up against all this.  I am glad your community appreciates this.  In some places, whistle blowers can get into trouble...

Since July 1972, in NIH, I started the experimental research to prevent ischemic brain injuries such as infarction as well as neuronal injuries, supported by Japanese ministry of education and later by NIH. I am still concentrated in this research continuing neurosurgical practice.  

For our annual innovation for this year, we made a simple machine that fills marker pens easily, no fuss and no spills.  We only used black, blue and red whiteboard marker ink.  (I will provide the pic later.)

Our university is awarded a "Green Campus Award". Really green!

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) could change that radically. It is a low-cost-power technology that does not require any new ICT infrastructure and can be deployed in most the remote regions. The vast range of sensors that can be connected to the devices makes them flexible for many different applications, such as air-quality, water-quality and soil-moisture monitoring.

I have been involved in two different innovative Seawater Desalination and Wastewater treatment projects. Both projects have got Seed Fund Awards (USD 200,000.00) each.

One is called GreenDesal and the other one is OsmoH2O. One of this start up project is now in the process of incorporation. We have got great support from University Innovation Department, in terms of finance, mentorships, training etc. If you have innovative ideas, our innovation department could help to take them to the market by investing up to 2-3 Million US Dollars. KAUST innovation fund is open to any kind of innovative ideas from the fields of Water, Energy, Health Care, Environment etc. Recently they funded one of the Canadian start-up, about US$ 3 M. Your ideas must be patent protected prior to funding.
