What are the important things other than qualifications, experience and research funding to apply for the academic level position in university. How to prepare for the interview. Suggestions welcome
Confidence, good communication skills and vision are very important. During my interview for the post of Assistant Professor I was asked to explain what would be my contribution to the institute if inducted? One must be updated about his area of research.

Be careful interpreting any answers and advice that you get. There are likely to be great differences depending upon the academic culture of your country and also on the nature of the academic position, such as wether it is teaching, research, both, tenure track or not, etc.
Having been part of many search committees, I feel the most important aspect you should keep in mind is that the committee/interviewer is not only looking for someone to perform the role that you have applied for, but also someone that will be a good colleague. Your record in terms of past accomplishments is what it is. What you need to convey now is that you are a team player, easy to get along with and more than willing to listen to others ideas.
