Though I do not come from the field of medicine, yet I would like to answer this question.
I am an Indian. As you know, India is the country with the second largest population in the world. So, right from the onset of this pandemic doctors told us to avoid places that attract a lot of people. Examples include markets, bus stops, departmental stores, shopping malls etc.
We have been repeatedly told to maintain contact with each other in the family, among friends and relatives etc. In India, most doctors believe that your immunity is a by-product of your psyche. When you are with your close ones, then you are happy and so the immunity in your body is strong enough to protect you from all sorts of contagious diseases.
Our doctors are repeatedly telling us to avoid eating outside food and have more of home made food.
So to answer your question directly, in India we are believing that visiting public places, remaining aloof from others and eating outside stuff, can increase the risks and susceptibility of Corona virus infections.
For me, age has something to do with it, since older people produce very little or no T cells that are part of the immune system and that attack the virus and prevent its reproduction.
