Have they explored taking the spectrum IR or otherwise of the air exhaled by a covid patient and compared with clean air to find signatures of coronavirus?
If they are successful in identifying the coronavirus in exhaled air in a IR hand held device they know instantly if the person is infected and how severely. It will turn out to be useful at airports and other places where you require only healthy persons in

Bernd Kaestner the article you suggested is interesting and useful. But may I specifically ask if you know somebody has taken a spectrum of exhaled air from a covid patient and compared with a normal person. The spectrum be IR, Raman, or any other technique. I want to see if the signatures of the virus manifest if you subtract the spectrum of the normal person.
Using exaust air from a patient lungs does potentially provide a rapid means of diagnosing Covid infection. While a sensitive PCR can be used, the development of some sort of microchip technology would allow the diagnostic to be much rapid.
