Curcumin is thought to be synthesised in leaves and translocated to rhizomes. We know certainly that genotype and environment play important role. But role of many factors is not known.
This question seems to be interesting to a lay-man in this field. Would like to request experts to help Kalidasu out.

From this, it can be hypothesized that the curcumin is denovo synthesized in rhizome, not trans-located from leaves as mentioned in the Monograph by Dr. Ravindran in Turmeric: the genus Curcuma. Now, we have to see whether this is true by studying the phloem sap.
