Am working on Spatial and temporal variability of rainfall in West coast of Karnataka using IMD gridded data of resolution 0.25 degree. Currently I did trend analysis for my study area and found drastic variation of rainfall in recent decades. I need experts suggestion to carry out further work for my research. Please help in this context.

Well this question can be answered in threefold:
1) Look at the synoptic features like el-nino, MJO I too see increment in their intensity (Ref:http://ggweather.com/enso/oni.htm)
2)Human or anthropogenic factors play an important role, however the overall effect on the entire world is slow, but the regional effects can be drastic.
3)Look at the vegetation and urbanization variations on the timescale, factors like heat island effect increases the outgoing solar radiation substantially which thereby changes the convection in the region.
The answer to this question is very broad and you have to investigate it with consideration to the changes that you see in the region plus the changes in synoptic features in the world.

Spatial and temporal rainfall variability has links to various factors, from a large-scale "climate" forcing to regional scale. Anthropogenic forcing is widely addressed for this contribution, however, it has to be believed that there is much more to these than simply from the greenhouse/aerosol forcing alone. Landuse changes must be one of the critical factors that need to put into the contribution for variability
Your question is about spatial variation of rainfall, but your further explanation is about temporal changes/ trends in the last decades. Could you please give some more information about the area and the precise changes and/ or variation in space and time you see in the data? Are you concerned about average rainfall, seasonal rainfall, monthly extremes, annual extremes?
Spatial variation of rainfall can be influenced by many factors like for instance elevation, slope, aspect and prevailing wind directions. This depends on the geographical and climatological characteristics of your study area.

To be simple, i can say : Elevation, exposure, wet wind, air wetness, moisture capacity (which depends on the temperature), land use and the human activities. But the importance of the impact depends on the parameter studied (annual rainfall, annual extremes, monthly rainfall, annual extremes ...)
catchment topography, storm movement are major factors that influence the spatial variation of rainfall in the area you mentioned. Additionally, the above mentioned factors do play their roles. The spatial and temporal variability of rain should not be viewed from two perspectives. The spatiotemporal variability is a better term. In Quito Ecuador, within the inter Andean valleys, in less than 40 km, the annual rainfall essentially convective rains, change: 600 mm (70 events per year) to 1500 mm annual rainfall (200 events per year). It intervenes essentially the topography, the width of the valley. Where it rains 600 mm the valley is wide, to the area of 1500 mm the valley is narrow. To regenerate these observations I used a statistical model temporary space (MISION), I simulated 100 years of daily rains. Once calibrated, the map of rainfall intensities resembles a lunar landscape where time seems unchanged. The model used wind data, wind direction, historical records of 30 rain gauges. See my papers.
