I am interested to learn about any publications and thoughts about the way indigenous knowledge systems and processes were disturbed and marginalised by the colonisation,imperialism and modernity in the colonised global periphery? What responses social scientists and other activists are taking to address the situation? I am familiar with the work of Connell, Santos, Comeroff and Comeroff (focusing on Africa), Alatas, Chen (focusing on E.Asia) but like to know about other writings as well.
First doc is a report I wrote on the Taiping rebellion in China during the opium wars.
It has some degree of social rupture from colonization & imperial trade wars.

Siri, This is an interesting topic. To get a clear understanding of your question, I think it is important that some of the concepts you use should be spelled out more fully. One of them is 'colonization' and the other is 'global periphery' or 'global south'. I assume the latter two concepts as you have used connote an identical meaning.
In that context, if you could spell out what you mean by 'global south' and what constitutes social spaces (or nations or countries) in global south, that would help us to understand the other concepts you have used in your statement.
Amare, Periphery refers to those countries i.e. Third world,subjected to global capitalism in the sense used by Amin and Frank. You are familiar with the Centre-periphery dichotomy. Global South is used as a political location in comparison to global north rather than a geographical location in the sense as used by writers like Santos (2014), Connell(2008), Commeroff & Comeroff (2012)and others writing from a Southern Theory perspective. Siri, My question about affected countries was in relation to your usage of colonization. Except the Philippines to some extent and Hong Kong none of the countries in South Asia was subject to colonization. Sri Lanka, India and other countries in South Asia were not colonized.
It's a very interesting question, I think today and derived from social movements and the emergence of social psychology of liberation t the theology of liberation, it is giving a resurgence of consciencioa the collective meeting, which is wearing the colonialist paradigm, one after understanding.
