Friend this is a very general question. As regards the application of mathematics in Eng. each and every field of maths have applications. Either they have been identified or are still to be invented. There are many examples which may be cited at this moment. Fluid dynamics have been used in machines that is MEchanical Eng. and so on
The linear algebra has a wide application in engineering subject, for instance, coding theory, cryptography, computer graphics and optimization techniques are the consequence of linear algebra theory. whereas the group theory and semiring theory are used in theory of computer sciences as well as in estimation of structures of organic compounds apart from several other applications.
What are the applications of linear algebra? Applied mathematics and the sciences. Quite seriously. You can take several semesters of calculus, real analysis, and complex analysis, and you won't learn as much that can be applied as you would if you took a single linear algebra course and some other applied mathematics course (a computational methods for engineering course, multivariate statistics, whatever). Simply put, linear algebra is fundamental (literally: physics used to be all about calculus until the introduction of quantum mechanics, which requires knowing about vector spaces, linear combinations, eigenvectors & eigenvalues, etc., not to mention subjects from abstract algebra).
Whenever there is a matrix (which occurs quite often now a days because of approximation used to solve real life problems ), linear algebra comes into picture. Besides the topics cited above linear algebra is applicable in finding the solutions of ODE, Signal Processing and stability problems.
As already mentioned above, abstract algebra has got applications in cryptography, coding theory, discrete structure in computer science, signal processing etc. The most beautiful gems of Abstract Algebra are Finite Fields, Chinese Remainder Theorem and Quaternion. Quaternions are applicable in computer graphics.
Linear Algebra and Abstract Algebra finds applications in virtually every area of mathematics, including Multivariate Calculus, Differential Equations, and Probability Theory. It is also widely applied in fields like physics, chemistry, economics, psychology, and engineering. For example, identification numbers and modular arithmetic (linear) error-correcting codes, including cyclic codes ruler and compass constructions cryptography symmetry of patterns in the real plane. It have become increasingly important, and many science, engineering, and computer science students.
