'Diglossie' is a linguistic term which is applicable in didactics and sociolinguistics. The real connotation of the notion is usually argued from the point of view of the two domains of learning: sociolinguistics and didactics/pedagogy. The sociolinguist for instance looks at the term 'diglossie' from the view point where there are varieties in a particular language. In contrast, the didacticien may look at the notion from the point where a teacher employs more than one language to facilitate understanding of a target language. Are there really any differences in this notion or the arguments from the various perspectives are flawed in a way.
