As for the Cultural Landscape Research which was conducted in Russia, I may tell you the following:
As stated by Kagansky (2001), The cultural lanscape is the area on the Earth, which is inhabited by a large (sustainable) human population (or tribe). This area is unified and structured, contains natural and anthropogenic elements, and which is utilized, as well as has semantic and symbolic identity.

A very interesting discussion on the different understanding of the term "cultural landscape" is provided in the work of A.G. Isachenko (2003). He analyzed various approaches towards definition and understanding of a cultural landscape and found, that all of them contain the following aspects:
comparisons (or antagonism) between cultural and natural landscapes;
a cultural landscape will be a combination of natural and cultural components;
there is a considerable human dependency on natural background;
active interference of human activity and the environment;
considerable modification of natural landscapes by such activity;
spatial structure of a cultural landscape;
presence of cultural landscape functions and impact on human culture.

I can further suggest you reviewing a recent work of A.A. Shishkina (2001) CULTURAL LANDSCAPE: BASIC CONCEPTS. http://www.unn.ru/pages/e-library/vestnik_soc/99990201_West_soc_2011_1(21)/25.pdf.
Unfortunately, all this literature is in Russian, but maybe you can find someone to assist you with translation of the most important parts.
